The Presidents of the United States of America podcast…
couldn’t have happened at a better time because coinciding with the release of this episode a new President of the United States of America has been elected. Of course at the time of recording, David and I have no idea who won. However I am writing this minutes after Barack Obama took Ohio and pretty much sealed the deal. Congratulations to President Obama, keep fighting the good fight, man.
So where are we at? Oh yeah, remember the Seattle grunge seen? David likes to refer to this era in rock and “serious” and for good reason – a lot of the Seattle staples didn’t have much of a sense of humour. Well, our episode this week is based on PUSA, the only and always zany alt-rock trio from Seattle in the early nineties. From there we take a hard right turn and end up at the uber-serious Black Flag and Sonic Youth. Then of course we end up back at The Presidents by way of Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses who of course we got up close and personal in our Appetite for Destruction Podcast way back in season 1!
Also in the episode, Phil Franklin’s Sunburned Hand of the Man. Here’s a taste!
And how could we talk about Black Flag and Henry Rollins without mentioning his timeless interviews with Nardwuar the Human Serviette:
Finally, we mentioned the faux-language Esperanto so you’ve got to see Incubus (1966) starring a young, pre-Star Trek, William Shatner:
That’s about it for this episode, take a listen and like 0ur call to action stated, let us know what you thought of the 2012 election results. I have been away from the TV for a while now, did they finish counting the votes in Florida yet???
Next episode we are talking New York Dolls and we end up in some pretty strange waters, not familiar ones like Pacific Oceans, North Saskatchewans or Roger either. Would you believe Billy Joel? I guess their both from New York but you know we’re going to make it more interesting than that.
Until then, take care!
