The Roy Harper Podcast

Welcome back!  It’s a new year and a new season of NewbsRadio!  We’re ramping up the podcast factory output over here and that means more podcasts moving forward into 2014.  We’ve got episodes planned all the way to August for your listening pleasure but to start, we’ve got this here Roy Harper podcast to kick things off.  We’ve also got a fresh new sponsor in Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 book series – it’s the one book, one album format, you know the one.  We’ve featured books from this series before in our Paul’s Boutique and Chocolate and Cheese episodes.  We are just so ecstatic to be partnered up with them, it means we’ll be bringing in authors as experts to discuss map elements in our shows as well as even the artists themselves in some cases.  But best of all it means we’ll be giving away free books from 33 1/3 starting with their newest release, it’s written by Phillip Crandall and features Andrew WK‘s debut album “I Get Wet“.  If you want to get your hands on a copy, simply tweet at us or leave a message on our facebook page telling us how to party.  Give us some tips, we’re completely clueless.  It would be great if you could tag your responses with #333books so we can find them easier.

So on to Roy Harper.  He’s an english folk legend whose influence derives from his guitar work (Jimmy Page) and his vocal style (Fleet Foxes) but was always one to avoid the limelight, he’s never really gotten the credit he deserves.  That’s where we come in.  We’re celebrating the sounds of Roy Harper today on NewbsRadio and connecting him as best we can to all sorts of stuff including American radio personality, Dr. Demento and Canadian children’s show, You Can’t Do That on Television.  How do we get there?  You’ll have to listen to find out.  This week we welcome our guest and the host of the Solid Cat Podcast out of L.A., Demosthenes Spiropoulos.  It’s one of our most favouritest podcasts ever and so it should be yours as well by proxy.

Remember that we can be reached via Twitter @newbsradio and you can follow this link to our facebook page if you’re into that.  Visit our iTunes page to subscribe to the show and bypass the middle man (you) to have NewbsRadio delivered to your device AS IF BY MAGIC.  We’re also on Stitcher for all you Androids out there. Take care.
